The 6th China Media Credibility Forum was successfully held in Beijing Normal University

On May 16, 2021, the 6th China Media Credibility Forum, jointly sponsored by the New Media Research Center of Beijing Normal University, the New Media Research Center of the School of Journalism and Communication of Tsinghua University and Chinese Journal Of Journalism & Communication, was successfully held in Beijing Normal University.
Under the theme of "Communication and Social Trust", the forum held four sessions in the afternoon.Based on the fields of journalism and communication, sociology, economics and system science, the participants discussed the social impact of the communication of credibility in the Internet era.
The first meeting was chaired by Professor Zhang Hongzhong from School of Journalism and Communication, Beijing Normal University, and commented on by Professor Liu Hailong from School of Journalism, Renmin University of China and Associate Professor Yan Wenjie from School of Journalism and Communication, Beijing Normal University.
Professor Yu Guoming, Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Scholars of the Ministry of Education and School of Journalism and Communication of Beijing Normal University, delivered a speech titled "Discussion on the Transformation of Media Credibility Research".He said that the research on public credibility should change from the old paradigm to the new one: it should not stick to the previous framework logic, but should pay more attention to the change of boundary, mechanism and conditions.In order to change the current communication ecology, we should construct an association system according to the combination elements of the public credibility ontology and follow the changes.
Su Zhenhua, professor of the School of Media and International Culture of Zhejiang University, delivered a speech titled "Social Transformation, Social Difference and Media's Social Integration".Professor Su Zhenhua believes that the reform and opening up has brought about social transformation in China, social differentiation, social anomies and social trust decline, which affect the transformation of micro behavior and macro structure.Communication and the market, politics and education, are the three most important parallel mechanisms of social integration in the search for social integration, he said.
He Mingmin, PhD candidate of School of Media and International Culture, Zhejiang University, delivered a speech titled "The Relationship between Online Political Information Contact and Interpersonal Trust and the Chain Mediation Analysis of Media Trust and Patriotism -- An Empirical Study Based on CSS2019 Data".Her research found that: media content affects media trust and interpersonal trust;Institutional trust positively affects interpersonal trust;Shared emotions enhance interpersonal trust.

The second session was hosted by Professor Jin Jianbin, School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, and commented by Professor Ding Hanqing, School of Journalism and Communication, Beijing Normal University, and Assistant Professor Zhang Kaiping, Department of Political Science, School of Social Science, Tsinghua University.
Ma Deyong, a professor at the School of International Relations of Renmin University of China, delivered a speech entitled "The Credibility of Traditional Media in the Era of Social Media -- A Comparative Analysis Based on the Survey of Chinese and American Netizens", indicating that the credibility of traditional media in China and the United States in the era of social media did not decline due to the emergence of social media.At the same time, in recent years, the credibility of official media has increased and gained high trust from the public, which can be basically attributed to the change of political environment and public opinion environment rather than the improvement of their professional level.
Professor Hu Yong, School of Journalism and Communication, Peking University, delivered a speech entitled "What Products and Services the Journalism Industry Provides in the Network Era".Professor Hu Yong believes that information is an experience product every time it is consumed, and many media products are also trust products -- consumers cannot judge whether the quality supplied to them is compatible with the quality they need. Therefore, the accumulated experience and consumers' confidence in these products play a crucial role.
Li Xin, a student from the School of New Media, Xi 'an Jiaotong University, delivered a speech titled Research on the Influence of Geospatial Distance on the Difference of Residents' Social Trust: The Moderating Effect of Social Media. The research results showed that there were significant differences in social trust between urban and rural areas.Frequent contact with social media promotes the convergence of social trust between urban and rural areas.
Zhou Qian, a PhD candidate at the School of Public Administration of Zhejiang University, published a post entitled "Omnipotent Propaganda:Speech by Constructed Political Trust by State Media through Institutional Performance and Cultural Values in ChinaAccording to her research and discussion, state media propaganda can enhance political trust in China through strengthening public performance evaluation and strengthening traditionalist values as an intermediary mechanism;The evaluation of government performance, which is more media construction, improves China's political trust.

Liu Hailong, Distinguished Professor of Youth Changjiang Program of the Ministry of Education and Professor of Journalism School of Renmin University of China, delivered a speech titled Polarized Opinion or Spiral of Silence: Big Data Analysis of Microblog Comments.His research found that in microblog comments, the spiral effect of silence is obvious, but the polarization effect is not obvious;The band float effect is obvious among the followers.The lack of a sense of freedom of expression and a firm ideological belief necessary for polarizing effect;Nationalism transcends ideologies of left and right.
Zhang Kaiping, assistant professor of the Department of Political Science, School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University, presented the research titled "Competition for the Botany of Entertainment" : Depoliticization of New Media Propaganda -- Analysis of Big Data Based on sina weibo.Her research found that the mainstream media's involvement in the new media field has formed a race to the bottom effect, with the weakening of political attributes and the strengthening of entertainment and service attributes.Mainstream media are approaching local media and new government media in content and form of expression.And then kai-ping zhang teacher Shared the outbreak of the "double down" : new media public opinion field polarization - based on the analysis of sina weibo big data research, found around COVID - 19 outbreak, China's network public opinion is presented based on the intrinsic values of opposites opinion polarization, the mainstream media in the field of social media advertising to generate a positive atmosphere for public opinion guiding.
Zhu Lu, a postgraduate student from the School of Media and International Culture of Zhejiang University, published a paper titled "The Dual Meaning of Social Media News Encountering:Her research found that, from the perspective of total effect, the social dependence and platform dependence of "News Find Me" were significantly positively correlated with online political participation.Relying on the platform to obtain news will have a negative effect on political knowledge;The social dependency of "News Find Me" is significantly negatively correlated with system support.
