Song Suhong(宋素红)

Profile:

Song Suhong is a Doctor of Journalism, professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Journalism and Communication, Beijing Normal University. From 1999 to 2002, she studied for her doctorate under Professor Fang Hanqi, a leading researcher in the history of Journalism in China, at the School of Journalism at Renmin University of China. Professor Song has been teaching at Beijing Normal University since July 2002, during which she spent one year as a visiting scholar at the University of Southern California (USC) from July 2015 to July 2016.

Research Interests:

Professor Song's main research interests are media and gender, history of communication, and communication ethics and laws. Based on the above research interests,professor Song's courses at the School of Journalism and Communication include studies on the history of Chinese and foreign journalism and communication, and studies on communication ethics and laws, as well as media and gender.

Publications:

In addition, Professor Song has written two books, “The Female's Media: History and Tradition” and “Female’s Media in the New Situation”. Moreover, two national social science research projects led by her have been completed and achieved many achievements. Currently, the General Project of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education: Research on the Communication of Gender Consciousness in the New Media Environment, chaired by Professor Song, is in progress.
